prevent A from doingは実際に起こることを防ぐ、prohibit doing / prohibit A from doingは規則で禁止、ban doing / ban A from doingは禁止の措置、discourage A from doingは行動を控えるよう働きかける意味です。

From: School Science Exhibition Subject: Display and safety arrangements Teams must receive written approval before using electrical models. Our rules prohibit visitors from operating equipment that has not passed inspection. We have also placed barriers around fragile exhibits to prevent visitors from touching them accidentally. Posters near the entrance discourage people from leaving bags in busy walkways, but staff will still monitor those areas. A safety notice is not the same as a complete inspection. Teams should not assume that receiving an upload receipt means their displays have been approved. The technical coordinator will send a separate message after reviewing each setup.
問37|What is explicitly prohibited?
Operating electrical models without safety approval.
38|Why were physical barriers placed near exhibits?
To prevent accidental touching.
A river park used to have problems with visitors feeding wild birds. The council introduced a rule banning feeding in protected sections. Staff also installed signs discouraging people from leaving food near the trails. The park planted low bushes to help prevent visitors from walking into sensitive nesting areas. During a trial, some visitors ignored the signs, so the council decided to provide clearer explanations in several languages. The park collected observations of bird activity but did not claim that the new rules alone caused every change. Weather and other environmental conditions also affected the counts.
問39|Which behavior did the council ban?
Feeding wild birds in protected areas.
40|Why did the park avoid making a definite claim about its results?
Bird counts could also change because of weather and other conditions.
A secondary school teaches students to check sources before sharing information online. Teachers discourage pupils from making claims based on a single unidentified post. Some activities prohibit copying images without appropriate permission, while other lessons explain how to record the sources of photographs and texts. The school also uses a review checklist to help prevent mistakes in student research reports. However, the head teacher explains that no checklist can guarantee every statement is true. Students must verify important evidence and acknowledge uncertainty when information is incomplete.
問41|What practice is discouraged?
Making claims based only on an unidentified post.
42|Can the checklist guarantee that every claim is true?
No. Evidence still needs verification.
A town introduced shared bicycles near a large public park. It banned riding on narrow pedestrian-only paths but allowed cycling on marked routes. Posters discouraged users from leaving bicycles outside designated parking areas. Staff installed wheel locks and a clear return process to help prevent bicycles from being lost or misused. The service was popular, but some stations still ran out of bicycles at busy times. Managers began recording demand and repair costs before deciding whether more bicycles should be provided.
問43|Where is cycling banned?
On narrow pedestrian-only paths.
44|Why were wheel locks introduced?

FAQ
prevent A from doingが基本です。
