Some museums are creating digital collections of historical maps so that students can learn about how their towns have changed. Maps can show where roads, rivers, and public buildings were located many years ago. Digital copies allow schools to study fragile original documents without handling them directly. However, museums need to check that dates and place names are accurate before writing descriptions.
In Eastport, a museum began offering digital maps to school classes. Teachers could download selected maps for lessons after completing a simple registration. In the first month, the number of downloads increased quickly. Some staff suggested that the service had become popular with students. However, the museum had not yet measured how many students actually viewed the maps or used them in class. One teacher might download the same file several times, so the number of downloads was not the same as the number of learners.
The museum interviewed teachers and discovered several problems. Some maps were difficult to read because the labels were small, while others lacked explanations of old place names. The museum therefore added clearer images and short descriptions. It also prepared a guide showing teachers how to compare historical maps with present-day ones. These changes were intended to make the material more useful, but their effects had not yet been studied.
Next term, the museum will ask participating teachers to report how students used the maps and whether they could explain the differences between past and present town layouts. It will also record the time and costs needed to keep the files accurate and available. The museum hopes to expand the collection, but it will consider these results before deciding which maps to digitize next.
問27 Why do museums provide digital versions of old maps?
- To remove all place names
- To let students study fragile documents without handling originals
- To replace every current city map
- To stop teachers using historical materials
B:To let students study fragile documents without handling originals。study … without handling original documents
問28 Why did download numbers not show how many students used the maps?
- The museum could not count files
- The website had never opened
- Every download was made by a student
- The same teacher might download a file several times
D:The same teacher might download a file several times。One teacher might download the same file several times。
問29 What difficulty did some teachers report?
- All dates were written in the future
- Some labels were too small and old names lacked explanations
- Museums had no maps at all
- Teachers had no internet connection anywhere
B:Some labels were too small and old names lacked explanations。labels were small / lacked explanations of old place names。
問30 What will the museum investigate next term?
- Only the number of museum visitors
- How maps were used in lessons and the cost of maintaining them
- The exact age of all teachers
- Whether every student purchases printed maps
B:How maps were used in lessons and the cost of maintaining them。report how students used … record time and costs。
問31 What is the main point of the passage?
- Historical information does not require checking
- More downloads always mean more learners
- Original maps should never be preserved
- Digital access is useful, but actual learning and reliable information must be evaluated
D:Digital access is useful, but actual learning and reliable information must be evaluated。

Writing Part 1|
Some community centers organize activities where teenagers and older residents work together on local projects. For example, they may record stories about the town’s history or create displays for public events. Supporters believe these programs can help young people learn from others while giving older participants opportunities to share their experiences.
However, working with people of different ages can involve challenges. Participants may have different schedules, and some activities require special equipment or accessible meeting spaces. Organizers also need to make sure that everyone understands the purpose of each project and feels comfortable taking part.
To address these issues, community centers can offer shorter sessions, choose locations that are easy to reach, and provide clear instructions. They may also ask participants for feedback after each activity. These measures can make programs easier to manage, but organizers still need to consider costs and whether the projects produce useful results over time.
Community centers organize projects where teenagers and older residents work together, sharing knowledge and experiences. However, different schedules, equipment needs, and accessibility can make these activities difficult. Organizers use shorter meetings, convenient locations, clear instructions, and feedback to address these challenges, while still needing to evaluate costs and long-term results.
Writing Part 2|
TOPIC: Do you think schools should provide more opportunities for students to learn about local businesses?
POINTS: Education / Jobs / Community
I think schools should provide more opportunities for students to learn about local businesses. First, students can understand how different jobs contribute to their communities. For example, visiting a small bakery may show how workers manage supplies and serve customers. Second, these activities may help students consider future careers and the skills they need. However, schools should not require every business to accept visitors. They could start with short interviews or presentations by willing local workers. Such activities would give students practical information while respecting the time and responsibilities of business owners.
