A middle school installed sensors in several classrooms to measure carbon dioxide levels. Teachers hoped the information would help them decide when to open windows. The readings sometimes became high during crowded lessons, especially when windows stayed closed. The school introduced a reminder that encouraged teachers to open windows briefly when readings reached a certain level. After a month, average readings became lower in many classrooms. Some students believed the reminder had solved the problem. However, fewer students were using some classrooms during the trial because classes were taking examinations in another building. This may have affected the readings. The science teachers decided to compare classrooms with similar numbers of students and record temperature as well as carbon dioxide levels. They would also check the sensors regularly because an inaccurate device could provide misleading information. The goal was better ventilation while keeping rooms comfortable in cold weather.

問28:Why did the school install sensors?

  1. To count students’ books.
  2. To replace every classroom window.
  3. To measure lunch costs.
  4. To help decide when classrooms needed ventilation.

  4. Average readings were lower in many rooms.

正答 D:Average readings were lower in many rooms.。average readings became lower in many classrooms。

問30:Why could the changes have another cause?

  1. No teacher could open a window.
  2. The sensors had never shown any readings.
  3. Some rooms had fewer students during the trial.
  4. Every day had identical weather.

C:Some rooms had fewer students during the trial.。fewer students were using some classrooms。

問31:What will teachers do next?

  1. Stop collecting temperatures.
  2. Compare similar rooms and check sensor accuracy.
  3. Assume all readings are perfect.
  4. Keep windows open all winter.

正答 B:Compare similar rooms and check sensor accuracy.。compare … similar numbers … check sensors regularly。

In some communities, families cannot afford every educational toy or game that young children might enjoy. Many products are also used for only a short time before children grow older. To make these activities more accessible, several libraries have begun lending educational games. Families can borrow a game, learn how to use it, and return it for others. This may save money, reduce waste, and give children opportunities to try unfamiliar activities. However, the service needs careful management. Staff must clean materials, check for missing pieces, and make sure that games are suitable for different ages. Popular items may also be unavailable when several families request them.

模範要約(51語):Some libraries lend educational games so families can try different activities without buying expensive items. This may save money, reduce waste, and help children discover new interests. However, staff must clean the games, check for missing pieces, and ensure age suitability. Popular games may also be unavailable when demand is high.

TOPIC: Do you think museums should offer more free online tours?

模範英作文(96語):I think museums should provide more free online tours. First, people who live far away or have difficulty traveling could enjoy exhibitions without visiting the building. For example, students in rural areas might examine historical objects through photographs and short explanations. Second, online tours can help visitors prepare for an actual museum visit. They could choose which exhibitions interest them most and learn important vocabulary beforehand. However, museums should keep the information accurate and make their websites easy to use. Online tours cannot replace every experience, but they could make learning more accessible to many people.
