Part1|会話10問と独自英文台本
会話1
Q1. What will the organizers do?
- A. Keep the lecture upstairs regardless of lift access.
- B. Cancel the lecture entirely.
- C. Use an accessible ground-floor room and provide a remote option.
- D. Ask guests with mobility needs not to attend.
読み上げ用台本(初回は見ない):Woman: The guest lecture is moving to the third floor. Will the lift be working? Man: Engineers cannot guarantee that by tomorrow. Woman: Some guests need step-free access. Man: Then we should use the smaller room on the ground floor, even if we have to limit the number of seats. Woman: I’ll revise the invitations and offer remote viewing to people who cannot attend.
会話2
Q2. What concerns the woman?
- A. The responses do not yet establish widespread support or representativeness.
- B. The questionnaire contained no questions.
- C. The town had no residents.
- D. The survey had been completed by all households.
読み上げ用台本(初回は見ない):Man: The survey has received more than eight hundred replies. Can we call the proposal popular? Woman: We have not examined how many responses support it, and the link was mainly shared among existing members. Man: So even a high response rate might not represent the whole town. Woman: Exactly. We need the distribution of views and a clear account of who was invited.
会話3
Q3. Why is the projector not ready for lending?
- A. Its image quality is known to be poor.
- B. The library has sold it.
- C. The borrower canceled the reservation.
- D. A full electrical safety check is still required.
読み上げ用台本(初回は見ない):Woman: The portable projector works again after the repair. Can we lend it out immediately? Man: Not until it passes the full electrical inspection. The technician only confirmed that the image appears. Woman: Then I’ll keep the reservation tentative and tell the borrower when we have a safety report. Man: Good. We shouldn’t treat a functioning display as proof that every component is safe.
会話4
Q4. What should the man do?
- A. Wait until the course begins.
- B. Submit the online form by Tuesday and retain confirmation.
- C. Send another phone message after the deadline.
- D. Buy a new course to obtain a refund.
読み上げ用台本(初回は見ない):Man: I canceled my enrollment by phone yesterday. Can I expect the full refund? Woman: Our policy requires the cancellation form to be submitted online by Tuesday evening. A phone message doesn’t count as a formal request. Man: But today is only Monday. Woman: In that case, you can still submit the form before the deadline and keep the confirmation number.
会話5
Q5. What does the man advise?
- A. Claiming the painting now matches its original appearance exactly.
- B. Removing all labels from the painting.
- C. Explaining restoration work and remaining uncertainty.
- D. Repainting it using modern colors without documentation.
読み上げ用台本(初回は見ない):Woman: Our museum’s restored painting looks brighter. Does that prove the colors were originally vivid? Man: Not necessarily. Cleaning has removed later varnish, but the pigments may have changed over time. Woman: Then the label should say what conservators did and what remains uncertain. Man: Exactly. We should not describe a modern appearance as a perfect reconstruction of the past.
会話6
Q6. What is the problem with the translation?
- A. It changes a possible requirement into a universal obligation.
- B. It contains too many examples of optional documents.
- C. It eliminates the need for any forms.
- D. It uses only words from another dialect.
読み上げ用台本(初回は見ない):Man: The translated notice says every family must bring two documents, but the English version says some families may need extra papers. Woman: That’s a serious difference. The translation has turned a possibility into a requirement. Man: Should we send it anyway and correct it later? Woman: No. Let’s have the translator revise it before distribution.
会話7
Q7. Which decision has been made?
- A. All activities are canceled permanently.
- B. The event will be held outside whatever the weather.
- C. The open-flame demonstration will take place inside.
- D. An indoor alternative will be prepared, with one activity replaced.
読み上げ用台本(初回は見ない):Woman: The outdoor science event was planned for Saturday. Should we cancel it because rain is expected? Man: The forecast is uncertain, and the indoor hall is available. Woman: Then we can move the experiments inside if necessary. Man: Yes, but the demonstration using open flames cannot be held there. We’ll replace that activity and announce the final plan on Friday.
会話8
Q8. What has the grant committee approved?
- A. Equipment purchases, but not yet training costs.
- B. All training courses and staff travel.
- C. A permanent increase in staff salaries.
- D. Only advertising for the sensor project.
読み上げ用台本(初回は見ない):Man: The grant was approved to purchase sensors, so we can pay for training from the same funds, right? Woman: No. The approved budget covers equipment only. The training proposal is still under review. Man: I’ll prepare a separate schedule and cost estimate. Woman: Please do, and don’t announce training dates until the additional approval arrives.
会話9
Q9. What evaluation would be more useful?
- A. Counting page views without asking about understanding.
- B. Testing whether students can compare sources and explain evidence.
- C. Assuming all volunteers represent every student.
- D. Replacing the project with advertisements.
読み上げ用台本(初回は見ない):Woman: Our documentary website has more visitors since the school project began. Is that proof students learned more? Man: It tells us they accessed the site, but not what they understood. Woman: We could ask them to compare sources and explain their answers. Man: That would be more informative, especially if we avoid treating a few enthusiastic volunteers as representative of every student.
会話10
Q10. What is the woman’s main point?
- A. Every old bus should be discarded immediately.
- B. Reusing all vehicles is always cheaper.
- C. Vehicle reuse should depend on safety, standards and lifetime costs.
- D. The city has already completed all upgrades.
読み上げ用台本(初回は見ない):Man: Can the city reuse the old buses after replacing their engines? Woman: Perhaps, but we should check whether accessibility and emissions standards can be met. Man: Reusing vehicles would save construction materials. Woman: Possibly, yet upgrading an unsafe vehicle would not necessarily be economical. We need lifetime cost and safety assessments before choosing.

Part2|説明文5題・10問と台本
説明文1|地域の海岸観察
Q11. Why did researchers question the claim of more dangerous tides?
- A. Volunteers were forbidden from visiting beaches.
- B. The app could increase detection and reporting without a real change in tide frequency.
- C. The council had deleted previous tide records.
- D. All reports came from instruments that were deliberately broken.
Q12. What did the council decide?
- A. To remove safety rules immediately.
- B. To prohibit all future volunteer observations.
- C. To fund further monitoring before changing regulations.
- D. To treat every unusual report as proof of a permanent trend.
読み上げ用台本:An imaginary coastal research group introduced a smartphone application for reporting unusual tides. Volunteers submitted many observations, and the project gained media attention. Some local officials argued that the rise in reports showed that dangerous tides had become more frequent. Researchers explained that the application made reporting easier, so more observations could reflect improved detection rather than a change in nature. The volunteers also concentrated near popular beaches, leaving less visited sections underrepresented. To improve the evidence, the group proposed fixed observation sites, consistent reporting times, and comparisons with established tide records. It also warned that a single unusual measurement should not be treated as a long-term trend. The coastal council agreed to fund further monitoring before revising safety rules. The project remained useful for identifying events that deserved investigation, but it had not established that tide hazards were increasing.
説明文2|市民図書館のデジタルアーカイブ
Q13. What did staff do about contradictory dates?
- A. They distinguished verified information from estimates and documented corrections.
- B. They declared every date perfectly reliable.
- C. They removed all digital photographs.
- D. They prevented teachers from using historical materials.
Q14. Why was unrestricted publication of donated letters questioned?
- A. Libraries were forbidden to store letters.
- B. Letters were always produced by the government.
- C. Every letter was a forgery.
- D. Ownership of a record did not automatically provide consent for public online access.
読み上げ用台本:A fictional library network digitized early photographs of local streets to make them available for classroom use. The collection grew quickly, but cataloguers discovered that some original labels contained contradictory dates. Rather than delete every uncertain entry, staff identified which details were verified and which were estimates. They also added links to documents explaining how earlier interpretations had changed. Teachers reported that students enjoyed the images, but researchers warned that enjoyment did not prove improved historical reasoning. A school pilot therefore asked learners to compare photos with newspaper reports and explain conflicting evidence. In addition, the library reviewed privacy concerns in personal letters donated by families. A record’s presence in the collection did not necessarily mean that the donor had approved unrestricted online publication. The network decided to evaluate comprehension and consent procedures before making the entire collection searchable.
説明文3|大学設備の共同予約
Q15. Why were booking totals an unreliable productivity measure?
- A. Every instrument had been permanently removed.
- B. The new calendar prohibited reservations.
- C. Some bookings were repeated or canceled without completed experiments.
- D. Research outputs had already doubled.
Q16. What did technicians address?
- A. Inconsistent calibration standards among laboratories.
- B. The lack of any available internet connection.
- C. A plan to close all laboratories.
- D. An agreement to abandon all shared equipment.
読み上げ用台本:An imaginary university consortium introduced a booking service for expensive laboratory instruments. Reservations increased after the online calendar was launched, and administrators initially celebrated the system as a productivity improvement. Evaluators pointed out that some research teams booked several slots for a single project, while maintenance sometimes forced cancellations. Higher reservations therefore did not establish that more experiments had been completed. The consortium proposed tracking actual instrument use, unsuccessful sessions, and whether small institutions received fair access. Another concern involved calibration: laboratories had previously recorded measurements using different reference standards, so combining their results could create misleading comparisons. Technicians developed shared procedures and training. The board approved a limited continuation with stricter recording rather than immediate expansion. It would assess research outputs and running costs before purchasing additional equipment.
説明文4|自治体の冷房避難室
Q17. Why did rising attendance not establish equitable access?
- A. All facilities were in remote areas.
- B. Every resident had visited a room.
- C. The indoor temperature had never been measured.
- D. Residents in outlying districts faced transport barriers.
Q18. What additional information was requested?
- A. Only the opinions of frequent visitors.
- B. Access barriers and experiences of people who had not used the service.
- C. Only the number of posters printed.
- D. A guarantee that the service would never cost money.
読み上げ用台本:A fictional municipality tested public cooling rooms during a period of unusually high temperatures. Attendance increased after posters were distributed, prompting some officials to call the service a proven success. However, several rooms were close to railway stations, while outlying districts had limited transport. Evaluators cautioned that attendance counts could not establish equitable access. The city also shortened waiting times at certain clinics during the same period, potentially altering where people chose to rest. Researchers recommended measuring indoor conditions, transport barriers, operating costs, and the experiences of residents who had not visited the shelters. They warned that surveying visitors alone would miss many people who could not reach the facilities. The city authorized a longer accessibility review and postponed any citywide expansion until the evidence was available.
説明文5|職業講座の成果指標
Q19. What was the problem with the reported employment improvement?
- A. Registration did not demonstrate distinct trained people or actual jobs.
- B. The program had no registrants.
- C. All participants refused assessment.
- D. The authority had already recorded employment for every applicant.
Q20. What did reviewers propose?
- A. Reporting only promotional reach.
- B. Stopping every course permanently.
- C. Measuring enrollment, withdrawals, practical skills, and later employment separately.
- D. Assuming all rural residents had reliable internet.
読み上げ用台本:An imaginary workforce program introduced short online courses and attracted far more registrants after a public advertising campaign. Officials described the increase as evidence that the program was improving employment prospects. Independent reviewers disagreed with that interpretation. Some applicants had registered for multiple courses, while others stopped attending before the final assessment. Registrations could therefore not establish the number of distinct people who acquired skills, much less the number who found jobs. Researchers proposed reporting enrollment, withdrawals, practical assessment results, and later employment separately. They also asked whether people without stable internet access could use the program. Rather than claim failure or success prematurely, the authority approved follow-up research and a small face-to-face alternative in rural areas.

Part4|インタビュー2問
Q26. What is the researcher’s view of taking action with incomplete evidence?
- A. Government action is never justified before all research ends.
- B. Emergency measures automatically prove long-term effectiveness.
- C. Temporary action may be reasonable if uncertainty and monitoring are made clear.
- D. Review dates should be omitted to avoid confusion.
Q27. What does the researcher recommend including with public claims?
- A. What was measured, what remains uncertain, and what decision is still open.
- B. Only the number of downloads.
- C. Predictions presented as established results.
- D. Technical terms without explanation.
インタビュー全文台本
Interviewer: You study how people interpret public research. Why can a clear-looking report still create misunderstanding?
Researcher: A short explanation may remove qualifications that matter. Consider a fictional city’s survey in which some volunteers report better outcomes after a program. Unless we know how participants were selected and what else changed, the observation alone does not prove that the program caused the improvement.
Interviewer: Should governments avoid acting until every uncertainty is resolved?
Researcher: Not necessarily. During an emergency, a temporary measure with careful monitoring may be reasonable. But officials should distinguish that provisional decision from a claim that the measure has already been proven effective. They should explain when the decision will be reviewed.
Interviewer: Many people dislike complex caveats. How can researchers communicate limitations without losing their audience?
Researcher: They can identify one or two limitations that materially affect the conclusion. For example, they might say that the trial involved only a small group or that staff training happened at the same time. That is easier to understand than a long list of technical terms.
Interviewer: Does the number of downloads show whether a report succeeded?
Researcher: It indicates reach, not comprehension. A downloaded document may never be read, and a short briefing used by a small group of community workers might be more influential. We need questions about understanding and practical application, as well as attention to people who could not access the report.
Interviewer: What is your most important recommendation?
Researcher: Every major public claim should briefly state what was measured, what remains uncertain, and what decision is still open. That helps people use evidence responsibly without pretending that uncertainty makes research worthless.
インタビューの段落別要点訳
