C|Why Two Maps Looked Different
Original reading passage:Mika and Rina were preparing a report about their town. They found two maps that showed a river in slightly different places. Mika thought the river had moved because of a flood. Rina asked whether the old map was accurate enough to prove that. The girls visited a local museum, where they saw photographs and written records. A guide explained that the older map had been drawn using less precise measurements. The river might have changed over time, but the maps alone could not establish the reason. The students wrote a report that separated what they observed from what they guessed. Their teacher said this was more valuable than giving a confident answer without enough evidence. The girls agreed that good questions can help people understand history.

Original reading passage:A school club planned a small international food festival. On Wednesday, the students learned that a guest speaker could no longer come on Friday. At first, they thought they had to cancel the event. Their leader, Hana, suggested asking another speaker and preparing a short student presentation as a backup. She contacted two local volunteers, and one agreed to join. The students changed the schedule so that the visitor would speak after lunch instead of in the morning. They also wrote an announcement explaining the new time. Some students wanted to post the change only on social media, but Hana said everyone should receive a message through the school’s normal communication system. On Friday, the event went ahead.
