結論
let aloneとmuch lessは「〜は言うまでもなく」と後により実現困難なことを示す構文で、否定文などでよく使います。not to mentionは「〜は言うまでもなく」と情報を追加するときにも使われ、必ずしも不可能なことを述べるわけではありません。文の論理と追加情報の向きを確認します。

意味と論理の原則
1. 否定文のlet alone：He cannot walk one kilometer, let alone run ten.（1km歩けないのだから10km走るなどなおさら無理）。
2. 否定文のmuch less：She cannot afford a bicycle, much less a car.（自転車さえ買えないなら車はなおさら）。
3. not to mention＋名詞句：The plan is expensive, not to mention risky.（高い上に危険でもある）。単なる追加情報にも用いられる。
4. let alone / much lessで前段より容易な行為を後段に置くと、文意が不自然になる場合がある。正答は前後の難易度・意味で判断する。

The club found that it could barely afford the printing costs, much less the expense of renting a larger hall. Instead of canceling the idea, it prepared a small presentation for students in one class. After the event, the members wrote that planning within their real limits had helped them produce more accurate and useful work.
