inadvertently・mistakenly・deliberately・by defaultの違い
|---|---|---|
| inadvertently | 意図せず、うっかり | She inadvertently sent an old file. |
| accidentally / by accident | 偶然に、誤って | He accidentally deleted the image. |
| mistakenly | 誤認して、誤って | She mistakenly believed the room was open. |
| unwittingly | 知らずに・気づかずに | The student unwittingly shared outdated data. |
| deliberately / on purpose | 意図的に・わざと | The team deliberately moved the warning. |
| by default | 特別な選択をしない場合の既定値によって | Normal text is selected by default. |
| by design | 意図された設計によって | The warning is at the top by design. |
The editor published the wrong number.
by defaultとby designは必ず反対ではない
The user accepted the default.とThe designer chose the default deliberately.

第4部|初見英文A(問25〜30)
An Incorrect Timetable Attachment(架空の学校場面)
A fictional school club emailed a timetable to forty students on Monday. The secretary inadvertently attached the earlier version, which showed the workshop starting at 3 p.m. The new timetable, approved the previous Friday, showed 4 p.m. The secretary had chosen the first filename in a folder without noticing the date. When the mistake was discovered on Tuesday, the club sent the approved version and marked the earlier attachment obsolete. Nobody claimed that the secretary had intentionally misled the students. The club also changed its file naming system to include the date of approval. No workshop had taken place by Tuesday; the corrected schedule concerned a future event.
第5部|初見英文B(問31〜36)
A Chosen Default Setting(架空の学校場面)
A fictional classroom website offered two text sizes: normal and large. Unless a student chose otherwise, the page used normal size by default. The designers had deliberately set that default after reviewing how the page looked on small screens. During a test with twenty volunteers, twelve kept the default and eight selected large text. The organisers did not ask whether those who kept normal size actually preferred it. They therefore warned against treating the default selection as a reliable survey of preferences. The designers planned to add a clear size selector before running another usability test.
第6部|初見英文C(問37〜42)
A Mistaken Attendance Claim(架空の学校場面)
A fictional school newsletter initially reported that fifty students had attended a reading session. The attendance sheet later showed forty-five names. The editor had mistakenly copied a planned capacity of fifty into the actual-attendance column. The teacher confirmed the copying error by comparing the published chart with the source sheet. The newsletter corrected the figure and added an explanation. The school had no evidence that the editor had tried to inflate attendance intentionally. The organisers did not, however, claim to know why all five places had remained unused, because the source sheet contained names but no reasons for absence.
第7部|初見英文D(問43〜48)
A Deliberate Safety Revision(架空の学校場面)
A fictional school science club revised a safety notice before its exhibition. The first version placed an equipment warning at the bottom of a page. After consulting the teacher, the team deliberately moved the warning to the top because it needed to be seen before students began working. The words of the warning did not change. In a separate incident, one student accidentally deleted an unrelated photograph from the page and restored it from a backup. The final notice was published on Thursday, one day before the exhibition. The team explained that the warning’s new position was intentional, while the photograph’s removal was not. Both actions happened during editing, but their intentions were different.
