結論:It goes without saying that …

It goes without saying that safety matters.

Needless to say

Original Reading: The school debate club prepared a proposal to keep its library open later. The first draft began, ‘It goes without saying that every student wants the library to remain open until nine.’ The editor thought the sentence was too strong. The only evidence available was a short voluntary survey answered by twenty students, twelve of whom preferred later hours. The editor suggested that the group distinguish the value of providing a quiet study place from the claim that all students supported one schedule. The team kept a sentence saying that, needless to say, safe supervision was important, but it added details about staffing and costs. In the next paragraph, it explained that a limited four-week trial might reveal the number of students who would actually use the library after six. The members also acknowledged that some students would benefit more from an earlier opening time, while others needed better online resources. The final proposal recommended measuring attendance and consulting staff before deciding on permanent hours. The adviser noted that expressions meaning ‘obviously’ could help organize a speech, but they could not replace data about demand or safety. The club revised the introduction so that readers could see which claims were values, which came from a survey, and which still needed testing.
