形容詞＋前置詞の10組を意味で覚える
- good at：得意な技能（good at writing）。
- interested in：興味の対象（interested in history）。
- proud of：誇りに思う対象（proud of our work）。
- afraid of：恐れている対象・行為（afraid of making mistakes）。
- responsible for：担当する仕事（responsible for checking facts）。
- worried about：心配している事柄（worried about the weather）。
- satisfied with：満足する対象（satisfied with the results）。
- similar to：似ている対象（similar to this plan）。
- different from：異なる比較対象（different from the first design）。
- familiar with：人がよく知っているもの（familiar with the school rules）。
at・in・of・forの後ろはto不定詞ではない
interested in learning のinは前置詞なので-ingを続けます。responsible for checking、good at writingも同じ考え方です。これに対してwant to learn／decide to checkのtoは不定詞の一部です。見た目ではなく構文の機能で使い分けましょう。
interested to learnも使えるが意味・構文が異なる
I am interested in learning about plants. は学ぶことへの関心を表します。I was interested to learn that the museum had reopened. はその情報を知って関心を持った、といった別の自然な用法です。interested to learning のようにtoの後に-ingを重ねるのは不可です。
different from以外の表現も文脈によりある
学校の基本英文法ではdifferent fromが安心して使える形です。ただし実際の英語ではdifferent to／different thanも地域・文体・文の構造によって用いられます。教材の基本型と自然な別用法を区別しましょう。

A fictional school’s English club planned a short exhibition about local history. Hana was interested in learning about old buildings, while Ken was good at drawing maps. Their teacher was responsible for checking the safety information before visitors arrived. The students used these expressions in an English introduction because each adjective needed a preposition that showed its relationship with the following words.
Before the event, the volunteers were worried about the weather. They had prepared an indoor plan, but they still needed to check the final room list. Yui was proud of helping younger students understand the map, although she was afraid of speaking in front of a large audience. She practised her introduction with a friend and discovered that shorter sentences were easier for her to remember.
One sign said, ‘Visitors should be familiar to these rules.’ The teacher corrected it to ‘Visitors should be familiar with these rules,’ because the students meant that visitors needed to know the rules well. The group also described two versions of a map. The newer version was similar to the older one, but it included a clearer entrance label. The class learned to distinguish similar to and different from rather than changing prepositions at random.
During the exhibition, several visitors said the signs were useful. The club was satisfied with the comments, but it did not claim that the event had raised every visitor’s English score. In its final reflection, the group listed the tasks it had been responsible for and the expressions it had learned. It decided to practise the same preposition patterns in new sentences the following week.
