英検3級の会話・長文・英作文では、「何と言ったか」「誰に伝えたか」「何を尋ねたか」「何を頼んだか」を正確に区別する力が役立ちます。say／tell／askは日本語でどれも「言う・伝える」と訳せる場面がありますが、目的語と後続節の語順が異なります。24問の独自書換で確認しましょう。
対象：英検3級の学校英文法を学ぶ中学1〜3年生。引用文を使う独自教材であり、英検協会の公式問題・過去問の転載ではありません。時制の一致については原文の状況に応じて自然な英語を優先します。
まず4つの型を覚える
say (that)＋文
発言内容を伝える。sayの直後に人を目的語として置かず、say that＋文 またはsay to＋人 の形を使います。
tell＋人＋that節
伝える相手を明示する。tell me that、told him thatなど、人の目的語を伴います。
ask＋人＋if/when節
相手に情報を尋ねる。間接疑問の中は通常の主語＋動詞の順番。
ask＋人＋to不定詞
相手に行動を依頼する。ask me to wait / asked her to bringなど。
独自24問｜指定表現で英文を書き換える
各問題に示した表現を用い、情報・質問・依頼の意味を保ちながら一文に直してください。sayとtellが交換できる場面でも、指定した語順の習得を目的にします。

失点する語順3つ
He said me that …は通常不自然なのでHe told me that …またはHe said to me that …などにします。Do you know where does she live?の埋め込み部分はwhere she livesです。ask him closeはask him to closeとします。
復習と発展
まず24問を書き換え、翌日には全英文の「伝えた相手」に丸を付けます。3日後は学校行事の案内を題材に、said that／told me that／asked me if／asked me toを各1文ずつ自作します。
FAQ
sayとtellは置き換えられますか？
意味が近い場合もありますが語順が変わります。said to meとtold meを区別してください。
ask ifの後ろは疑問文語順ですか？
通常は平叙文の語順です。asked me if I needed helpなどになります。
