英検2級長文で「試験的に始めたこと」と「正式に決まったこと」を混同すると、内容一致問題の正誤が逆になります。 中高一貫校の中2・中3、高校生が英検2級の説明文・Eメールを正確に読むための、慶英会オリジナルの4英文24問です。英文、全文和訳、全問の正答・本文根拠を掲載しています。英検協会の公式過去問ではありません。

結論｜trial・pilot・plan・approval・launchは別段階

A trial will begin next month. は試験運用の予定で、A permanent service has been approved. とは違います。may・could・if・unlessは、結果や決定を確定させない合図です。「実行済み」「試験中」「検討中」「正式決定」を本文の時制と条件から分けます。

最初に確認する3つの読み方

1. pilot program＝試験導入、permanent operation＝継続的な正式運用。pilotの成功が自動的に正式導入を意味するわけではありません。
2. has been approved（承認済み）と is being considered（検討中）は、受動態でも確定度が違います。
3. 延期（postponed）は中止（canceled）ではありません。新日程が示されているか確認します。

独自英文1｜図書館の週末デジタル貸出

The Westfield Library will test a weekend tablet-lending service for six weeks. During the trial, only registered high school students may borrow devices, and each loan must be returned before the library closes. Staff will record the number of requests and check whether devices are damaged. Some parents have asked for a permanent service, but the library board has not approved one. If the trial causes few problems and maintenance costs remain low, the board will discuss a longer program in December. The library has already purchased ten tablets for the trial.
