英作文で「〜することを勧める」を書く際、suggest/recommend/propose の後には動名詞やthat節が使われ、advise someone to do は人に具体的な助言をする形です。*suggest students to join* は一般的な学習英語では避け、*suggest that students join* や *recommend joining* を使います。提案したことと実際に採用されたことも区別しましょう。

最初に理解する4つの違い
- suggest doing / suggest that 主語＋動詞：提案する。suggest someone to do は通常避ける。
- recommend doing / recommend that 主語＋動詞：推奨する。recommend A to B は物を推薦する形など文脈で異なる。
- advise someone to do：人に行動を勧める。advise＋動名詞という用法もある。
- propose doing / propose that …：案を提示する。提出・承認・実施は別の段階。

誤答：
The teacher suggested students to use a notebook, and everyone started.
改善後：
The teacher suggested that students use a notebook, but the number who followed the advice was not recorded.
理由：suggest that 構文に直し、助言を受けた全員が実行したという未記録の結果を削除します。
