英文要約で目的を示すaim to / intend to / be designed toと、実際に観察されたwas observed / recorded / resulted inは別の情報です。『ごみを減らすために始めた』から『ごみが減った』とは言えません。さらに思いがけない副作用（unintended consequence）があれば、重要性に応じて残します。
対象：英検準2級プラス〜1級の英文要約を学ぶ中高一貫校生・高校生。実際の級別模擬問題は制作せず、意味と文法を正確に守る級横断の技能を鍛えます。
独自性：以下の文章、学校、町、調査、人物、数量はすべて慶英会の教育用創作です。英検公式問題や出版社の文章の転載ではありません。
最初に確認する4つの要点
- aim to / intend to は目的・意図であって実施結果ではない。
- observed / recorded は確認された出来事・数値を示すが因果の証明とは別。
- unintended は予定されなかった副次的な結果で、必ずしも悪影響とは限らない。
- 意図と実績が食い違った場合は、要約で両方の関係を崩さない。

修正前：
The new school bins reduced litter because they were designed to do so.
正確な表現：
The bins were introduced to reduce litter, but their effect has not yet been measured.
和訳：新しいごみ箱はごみ削減を目的に導入されたが効果はまだ測定されていない。 修正理由：designed to は目的を示すだけです。
