英語の資料にある including（含めて）と excluding（除いて）を見落とすと、正しい数字でも対象範囲が違ってしまいます。『教師を含む50人』から『生徒50人』とは書けません。費用・回答数・定員の分母が何を含むかを確認しましょう。

先に理解する4つのポイント
- including A はAを合計に含める。合計とAを重複して足さない。
- excluding A はAを計算から外した範囲。なぜ除外したかは本文を確認。
- valid responses と submitted responses は違う。無効回答除外後の母数を明記する。
- 定員・登録・実出席などの指標には異なる含有範囲があり得る。

改善後：

違いの解説：教師8人は合計50に含まれるため、学生は50−8＝42。教師を追加して58にもしません。
