英検準2級プラスの英文法で、too … to、enough … to、so … that、so thatを混同すると、長文の内容や英作文の意味が反転します。「できないほど〜」「〜するには十分」「とても〜なので結果」「〜するために」を、慶英会独自32題の英文書き換えで学びます。

対象：準2級合格後に準2級プラスのReading・Writingを勉強する中高生。公式過去問ではなく、程度・可否・結果・目的の違いを理解する補助教材です。

最も重要な4つの違い

too small to hold fifty people は50人収容できないことを意味します。一方 large enough to hold fifty people は収容できるという意味です。so that は通常、目的を示すまとまりとして使えます。

学習方法

1. 日本語の意味と元の2文から、必要な構文を予想する。
2. 一文に書き換え、主語と行為者が変わっていないか確かめる。
3. 模範英文と和訳を確認し、誤答した構文だけ再テストする。
4. 翌日、別の社会的な話題について同じ構文で一文を作る。

意味を反転させないチェック

1. too … toの文で「できる」と誤訳していないか。
2. enoughが形容詞の後か名詞の前かを確認する。
3. so … thatの結果とso thatの目的を区別する。
4. for A toのAが実際に行動する人物・物と一致するかを見る。

FAQ

Q. so thatは必ず目的ですか？

文脈によって結果を表すこともありますが、本教材では目的を中心に練習します。so + 形容詞 + that節との形の違いも確認してください。

Q. tooとenoughは直ちに反対ですか？

場面によって必要な行動を可能にするかどうかが異なります。形容詞や文脈が変わるため、機械的に対義語として置き換えないでください。
