英検準2級プラスの長文でasが登場しても、毎回「〜として」と訳してはいけません。as a volunteerは役割、as it was rainingは理由、as the weather changedは同時進行、as carefully as possibleは程度を表します。慶英会独自4長文24課題で判断します。

対象：準2級プラスReadingの英文解釈に苦手がある中高生。学校・公共施設の独自英文を使った補助演習であり、公式過去問を転載していません。

独自長文1｜地域清掃でのas

Mina worked as a volunteer at the town’s clean-up event. As the morning began, more residents arrived with gloves and bags. As the riverside path was still unsafe after heavy rain, the organizer moved the group to another area. Mina followed the safety instructions as carefully as she could. The group collected rubbish, but it did not claim that the entire park had become clean after one morning.

As some members do not have reliable internet access, the office still accepts questions by telephone. The program has not guaranteed a place to every applicant.

As a result of their observations, the students suggested a longer trial instead of immediately buying a large water tank.

復習と見直し

asを読んだら、後ろが名詞句なのか主語・動詞を伴う節なのかを確認します。as long asやas soon asはひとまとまりで読み、比較のas … asと混同しないようにします。

いいえ。理由・時・同時変化などを表せます。どの意味が自然か前後の内容から判断します。
