英検準2級プラスのEメール・説明文で、at least(以上)・at most(以下)・fewer than(未満)・no fewer than(以上)・no more than(以下)を取り違えると、年齢・定員・語数・割引条件の4択を失点します。at least 12は12を含み、fewer than 12は12を含みません。
- at least 10 / no fewer than 10:10以上。
- at most 10 / no more than 10 / up to 10:10以下。
- fewer than 10 / less than 10:10未満。
- more than 10:10を超える。

Reading passage(慶英会オリジナル)
A school held a short English-writing competition. The instructions required each entry to contain at least one hundred words but no more than one hundred fifty words. This meant that a text of exactly one hundred words was acceptable and a text of exactly one hundred fifty words was also acceptable. A ninety-nine-word entry was too short, while a one-hundred-fifty-one-word entry was too long. The teacher asked students not to treat ‘at least’ and ‘more than’ as the same expression. Some writers revised their drafts to fit the specified range. One student submitted a 120-word essay, and another submitted a 150-word essay. Both satisfied the word-count condition, although the judges still needed to evaluate the quality of their writing. A third student submitted 151 words and was asked to shorten the text before the deadline. The word-count rule was only one requirement: entries also had to address the assigned topic and be submitted on time. Meeting the length requirement did not automatically guarantee a prize.

Reading passage(慶英会オリジナル)
A public library planned a weekend reading activity under fictional local rules. The program would run only if no fewer than twelve people registered in advance. The room could admit at most twenty-four participants. By Thursday, the library had received seventeen registrations, so the minimum requirement was satisfied and seven places remained below the room’s maximum. The organizer also said that each discussion group should contain no fewer than three and no more than five people. Staff proposed four groups of four students and one group of one, but the librarian rejected this because a single-person group did not satisfy the minimum. Instead, the seventeen students were divided into four groups of four, four, four and five. All four groups met the size rules. On the morning of the event, only fifteen of the seventeen registered students arrived. The activity could still be organized, but staff revised the grouping before starting. The librarian reminded visitors that registration counts and actual attendance are not necessarily identical.

Reading passage(慶英会オリジナル)
A science museum offered a robotics workshop for students aged twelve and older. Under its event rules, the group needed at least fifteen confirmed participants to hold the session, and the laboratory could admit no more than twenty-five students. Twenty students had been confirmed by Friday. The program would therefore go ahead, provided that the staff and equipment remained available. Each student could use the demonstration robot at most twice during the workshop so that everyone had an opportunity to try it. Some visitors mistakenly understood ‘at most twice’ to mean that everyone had to use the robot exactly twice. The instructor explained that one use was allowed as well. The museum had thirty registration requests, but ten applicants were not yet confirmed because the room could take only twenty-five students and staff had not completed the remaining review. The organizer did not say that all thirty people would be admitted. Students were asked to bring their confirmation emails because sending a request did not automatically mean obtaining a place.

Reading passage(慶英会オリジナル)
A fictional town transport service announced special fares for school groups. A group could receive a discounted ticket rate if it contained no fewer than ten students and no more than eighteen students. Groups with fewer than ten students had to buy the regular tickets, while groups with more than eighteen needed to contact the operator about a separate arrangement. The vehicle used for this service could carry at most twenty passengers, including the teacher. A school group of eighteen students and one teacher therefore had nineteen passengers and fit within the vehicle capacity. A different group of nineteen students and one teacher would reach the vehicle’s maximum of twenty, but it would not qualify for the advertised group discount because it had more than eighteen students. The operator advised schools not to confuse the discount’s group-size rule with the bus’s physical capacity. All bookings had to be confirmed before travel; an inquiry about prices was not a reservation. The notice was an educational example and did not describe a real bus company.
問33. What was the minimum student count for the group discount?
A. 9 / B. 10 / C. 18 / D. 20

A. They confirmed bookings automatically / B. They covered all services / C. They were always free tickets / D. They were not reservations
D. They were not reservations
