Why don’t we go?は「私たち一緒に行きませんか」。Why don’t you go?は「あなたが行ってみたらどうですか」。How about going?とWhat about going?は「行くのはどうですか」。Shall we go?は「行きましょうか」、Let’s go.は「行きましょう」です。誰が行動するのか、後ろが原形か-ing形かを確認しましょう。

6つの基本表現と語順

提案の内容は似ていても「私たち」と「あなた」が違う

Why don’t we study together?なら話し手と相手が一緒に勉強します。一方、Why don’t you study a little longer?なら相手に勉強を勧めています。Why don’t youは文脈によって相手への非難のように響く場合もあるため、相手の状況と口調を考えましょう。

How aboutとWhat aboutは両方使える場面がある

How about taking the train?とWhat about taking the train?はどちらも自然な提案になる場合があります。意味が重なる文で片方だけ正解と断定しません。二つの表現の後に動作を続ける場合、動名詞-ingを使う語順を中心に練習します。What about you?は「あなたはどうですか」という別の使い方です。
