英検準1級の長文で「結局何を言いたいのか」が分からない場合、各段落を個別に覚えるのではなく、本文全体の役割を一文へまとめます。 冒頭の問題提起、本文中の理由・事例、最後の評価や結論をつなぐと、具体例に引っ張られにくくなります。

独自30問｜本文全体の主目的を選ぶ
Q1. A paragraph explains a new transport service, gives two benefits, and ends with a caution about cost. Main purpose? A introduce and evaluate the service B discuss only cost C describe one passenger
Q2. The article describes a problem, compares two solutions, and concludes that one is more practical. Main purpose? A compare solutions B tell a story C list definitions
Q3. A passage begins with declining library use, gives several possible causes, and ends by proposing outreach. Main purpose? A explain a change and possible response B describe one library
Q4. A text gives an experiment result and then discusses its limits. Main purpose? A report and qualify a finding B prove a universal rule
Q5. A text describes a community program through several examples and ends with lessons for future programs. Main purpose? A explain the program and implications B list unrelated events
Q6〜Q15： 段落ごとの要点を1文ずつ書き、最後に全体を1文へ圧縮します。
Q16〜Q24： 具体例だけを答えにしてしまう誤りを見抜きます。
Q25〜Q30： 「最も適切なタイトル」を自分で付け、本文の主目的と一致するか確認します。
主目的と「一番印象に残った例」を分ける
長文には印象的な人物・研究・数字が出ます。しかし、それが本文全体の目的とは限りません。「その例は何を説明するために置かれたのか？」と考えると、具体例から本文全体へ戻れます。
