英検2級のquite・rather・fairly・prettyは、いずれも程度を表す副詞です。「かなり」という訳だけでは違いが分かりにくいため、語順・会話らしさ・文脈を併せて確認しましょう。fairlyは「まずまず・ある程度」、ratherは「やや・予想以上に」、quiteは強さが文脈や英語の地域差で変わることもあり、prettyは程度を表す場合は口語的です。これらは互換的な場面があるため、絶対的に一語だけしか使えないと決めつけないでください。

4語の基本と重要な定型表現

quite goodは常に「非常によい」でも「少しよい」でもありません。場面・発話者の地域差・抑揚で変わることがあります。一方、語順で判断できるquite a few / would rather doは試験で確実に整理できます。

いいえ。quite a fewは「かなり多くの」。fewだけの意味と逆に感じる場合があるため熟語として覚えます。
