1|Should universities require all students to study media literacy?
I support requiring university students to study media literacy, although institutions should have flexibility in how they provide that education. The objective should be to help students evaluate information, not to tell them which opinions they must hold. First, students regularly encounter research claims that are presented without sufficient context. Learning to examine sources, methods, and limitations can improve academic work across disciplines. For example, a graph may show a real association without proving that one variable causes another. Second, media literacy can strengthen public discussion. When graduates understand the difference between evidence and speculation, they may be better prepared to consider opposing viewpoints and explain uncertainty rather than simply repeat persuasive slogans. Third, such skills matter in professional life. People working in business, education, and public services may need to summarize complex information responsibly. Misleading reports can affect decisions even when the underlying data are accurate. Critics reasonably argue that university schedules are already crowded. However, institutions could incorporate media-literacy assignments into existing science, history, and language courses. This would make the requirement relevant to each discipline without necessarily adding a large separate subject. Overall, I favor a practical requirement that is assessed through students’ ability to evaluate unfamiliar information. Universities should emphasize critical judgment and transparent reasoning rather than memorization of approved views.

模範2|Should companies be required to explain AI-based hiring decisions?
Companies should be required to provide meaningful explanations when automated systems play a decisive role in hiring. Such a requirement would not eliminate unfairness, but it would give applicants a better opportunity to understand and challenge potentially mistaken decisions. First, explanation can protect people affected by inaccurate records or unsuitable screening criteria. If an applicant is rejected because the system misinterprets previous work experience, a clear review process could help identify the error before it causes lasting harm. Second, transparency can strengthen accountability within organizations. A company that must explain its decision factors has stronger reasons to document procedures, test unusual outcomes, and investigate complaints. These activities can uncover weaknesses that aggregate accuracy statistics might hide. Third, meaningful explanations can support public confidence in responsible technology use. Applicants do not need access to every technical detail, but they should know which types of information mattered and where responsibility for final decisions lies. Some businesses argue that full disclosure would expose confidential systems or create excessive costs. That objection deserves consideration. Rules should focus on high-impact decisions and allow explanations of relevant criteria without demanding publication of proprietary source code. In conclusion, I support a proportionate legal duty to explain automated hiring outcomes and provide accessible human review. The goal is fairer employment procedures rather than disclosure for its own sake.
