3つの学習ポイント
On second thought, let’s use the smaller room. は先ほどの案を再考して別の選択を提案する表現です。
Come to think of it, the librarian mentioned another record. は以前に聞いた情報を思い出したという補足で、必ずしも考えの撤回ではありません。
after reconsideringは検討し直した後を表すことができます。後続の文が最終判断であるか、一時的な提案なのかを見ます。

独自初見長文5問・全文和訳
Original Reading: The school literature club planned to hold a reading event on Friday afternoon. At first, the members wanted to use the largest classroom because they expected many visitors. Ken said that he could arrange extra chairs. During the planning meeting, however, the teacher showed the club a new notice about a sports practice in the neighboring gym. The rehearsal might create noise during the first hour of the event. Mina said, ‘On second thought, perhaps we should use the smaller room near the library.’ The group then compared room capacities and found that the smaller room could hold thirty people, while the current registration list contained twenty-four names. Ken replied, ‘Come to think of it, the librarian mentioned that the smaller room already has a projector.’ This additional information supported the new option, although it did not by itself prove that the room was available. The students checked the booking calendar and discovered that no one else had reserved it for Friday. They changed their plan and sent an updated notice to the registered visitors. The editor asked the club to explain why the decision had changed. The final report stated that the original choice had been reasonable with the information available at first, but the noise warning and equipment details justified reconsideration. It distinguished a revised preference from a remembered fact and from the booking record that confirmed availability.
全文和訳
文学部は金曜午後に読書行事を計画した。初めは来訪者が多いと予想して最大の教室を使いたがり、ケンは追加の椅子を手配できると述べた。しかし打ち合わせ中、教師が隣の体育館での運動練習について新しい通知を見せた。最初の一時間に騒音が起きるかもしれなかった。ミナは「考え直すと図書館近くの小部屋を使う方がよいかもしれない」と言った。小部屋の定員は30人で、登録名簿は24人だった。ケンは「そういえば小部屋には既に投影機があると司書が言っていた」と付け加えた。これは新案を支える情報だったが、利用可能性の証明ではなかった。予約カレンダーを調べると金曜はほかの予約がなく、部は計画を変えて登録者に改訂通知を送った。編集長は判断変更の理由を説明するよう求めた。最終報告には当初の情報からは元の選択も合理的だったが、騒音の警告と設備情報が再検討を正当化したと記した。修正した好み、思い出した事実、利用可能性を確認した予約記録を区別した。
