Original English: A fictional city organized short work-experience placements for high school students during the summer holidays. Schools could nominate students who had completed an introduction to workplace safety, but a nomination did not automatically secure a placement. Participating organizations reviewed applications according to their available supervisors and the kinds of tasks they could offer. One student, who had been recommended by a teacher, assumed she was already accepted and told her family she would be working at a museum. Students without their first-choice placement could express interest in other organizations, but they were not required to accept an alternative.
