英検5級の場所の英語を図で理解｜in・on・under・next to・betweenの独自48問【全解説】

英検5級で場所の英語を間違える場合は、in（中）・on（接する上）・under（下）・next to（隣）を図で区別し、Where is …? や There is … を文にして練習することが重要です。この教材は、慶英会独自の位置図6枚と無料48問（4択36問＋語句整序・誤文訂正12問）で、理解から解答まで学べます。

場所の英語で迷ったら、まずこの6つを区別する

• in：箱・かばん・部屋の中にある。in the bag（かばんの中）。
• on：表面と接する上・表面にある。on the desk（机の上）。
• under：何かの下側にある。under the table（テーブルの下）。
• next to：すぐ隣にある。next to the door（ドアのすぐ隣）。
• between：2つの物・人などの間にある。between two boxes（2つの箱の間）。
• above：物に接していない上方。above the box（箱より上）。on とは異なります。

英検5級で使う日常語と、学校英語の理解を深める追加表現を一緒に練習します。above・between などの個別表現が出題されることを英検協会が保証しているわけではありません。

位置図を見るときの注意：on は上に接触、above は上方で接触しないという違いがあります。between は between the two boxes のように2つの基準を示します。behind（後ろ）・in front of（前）は前後関係を示す語で、視点をそろえて解釈します。

in・on・atと場所の表現はどう違う？

in the room は部屋の内部、on the desk は机の表面、at the bus stop はバス停という地点を示します。ただし前置詞には慣用的な組み合わせもあるため、日本語の「で」「に」だけで機械的に変換しないことが大切です。時刻の at seven、曜日の on Monday、月の in April は時間の前置詞です。

間違い方別・7日間の復習

• 1日目：図A〜Fを見て「場所を表す英語」を声に出す。in と on、on と above の違いを説明できるまで。
• 2日目：問1〜12をもう一度。図だけを見て選択肢を隠し、The ball is … と英語で言う。
• 3日目：問13〜24。日本語を手掛かりに英語を選び、単語の綴りも確認する。
• 4日目：問25〜36。疑問文が Where / How many / Is there / Can で何を聞くか分類する。
• 5日目：問37〜42。単語を並べて正しい英文を自力で書く。
• 6日目：問43〜48。主語が単数か複数かを調べ、is/are の誤りを1つずつ直す。
• 7日目：前に間違えた番号をもう一度解き、慶英会の5級ディクテーション30題で位置表現を含む英文の音も確認する。

よくある質問

Q．英検5級ではin・on・underの意味を覚えれば十分ですか？

意味に加えて、The book is on the desk. のように主語・be動詞・場所を結びつける必要があります。試験で使われる語句は年度・設問によって異なり、特定の単語の出題を保証できません。

Q．onとaboveはどちらも「上」なのに何が違いますか？

典型的には on は表面と接している位置、above は接していない上方です。上にあることだけで決めず、接触の有無を図で確認します。

Q．Where isとWhere areをどう使い分けますか？

主語が単数なら Where is my bag?、複数なら Where are my books? です。答えも It is … と They are … を使い分けます。

Q．この48問は英検5級の公式過去問・予想問題ですか？
