wash・clean・set・putは何が違う？

wash the dishesとclean the tableはどちらも掃除に関係しますが、洗う物ときれいにする対象が違います。set the tableはテーブルそのものを置くという意味ではなく、食事ができるよう食卓を整える表現です。家の中で実際の行動と結び付けると覚えやすくなります。
after breakfastとbefore the gameを区別
after breakfastは朝食後、before the gameは遊びの前です。家事のメモには何をするかだけでなく、いつするかも書かれます。Ken washes the dishes after breakfast.なら、ケン・皿洗い・朝食後の3つをまとめて理解します。
誰が担当するかは主語で判断
Mika cleans her bedroom.ならミカ、Ken washes the dishes.ならケン、Their father takes out the trash.なら父親が担当です。My motherやOur familyも、ひとまとまりの主語として見ます。三単現のsも一緒に確かめましょう。

よくある質問
houseworkとhomeworkは同じ意味ですか？
違います。houseworkは家事、homeworkは宿題です。似たつづりでも意味が異なるため、英文全体で判断してください。
washとcleanはどちらも洗う意味ですか？
どちらも物をきれいにすることがありますが、washは水などで洗うこと、cleanは汚れを取ってきれいにすることを広く表します。
set the tableとは何をすることですか？
食事のために食器などを準備することです。テーブルを購入したり配置したりするという意味とは異なります。
