英検2級英作文では、「いつでも」「全員」「必ず」のような強い言い方を無意識に使うと、主張が必要以上に断定的になります。本文のTOPICが「should」や「can」について尋ねているなら、自分の主張もその範囲に合わせる方が書きやすくなります。この記事では、強すぎる断定を避ける独自30問を練習します。

結論｜「絶対」ではなく、条件に合う現実的な主張を作る

“All students must …” と書く必要はありません。“Students can …” “Schools should consider …” “This may help …” のように、根拠に合わせて強さを調整できます。

独自30問

all students → many students にすると？ 断定が弱くなる。
must → should は？ 義務から推奨へ。
will → may は？ 確定から可能性へ。
always → often は？ 頻度を弱める。
never → rarely は？ 完全否定を避ける。
“This policy will solve the problem.” → “This policy may help reduce the problem.”
“Every teenager needs…” → “Many teenagers may benefit from…”
“Schools must…” → “Schools should…”
“It is always better…” → “It can be better…”
“This will definitely…” → “This could…”
条件を付けるとき “when…” を使う。
条件を付けるとき “if…” を使う。
“for students who…” で対象を限定できる。
“especially when…” で場面を限定できる。
“in some cases…” で全体化を避ける。
“However, schools should also consider…” で反対側の条件を示す。
“As long as students…” で条件を示せる。
“When used carefully…” で限定できる。
“For students who live far away…” と対象を限定する。
“Depending on the situation…” と条件を置ける。
根拠なしに全員へ一般化しない。
本文にない統計を作らない。
「必ず成功する」と断定しない。
「誰に・いつ・どのように」を具体化する。
理由を条件付きで説明すると自然な具体性が出る。
“can” は能力・可能性のどちらか文脈で判断。
“could” は可能性・控えめな提案に使える。
“should” は推奨・望ましさ。
“must” は強い義務。
